We then went to Corktown to play in traffic and to grab a shot with the skyline in the background. The reception was at the family restaurant Giovannis. So much good Italian food, I was in heaven. It was so great to capture the day for this family again. The ceremony was even at the same church that Katie and Jon got married in in Rockwood. For photos after the ceremony, we went up to Detroit to Little Caesars Arena- Home of the Detroit Red Wings and the Pistons. From there we hopped on the party bus for a short trip down to The Detroit Institute of Art and then hit HopCat for a couple drinks before heading back to Riverview for the reception at Orlando Familia Banquet Center. I love that I get so see couples become parents and that they ask me back to shoot this joyous time of their lives. We did this shoot at Notre Dame's Charles B. Hayes Sculpture Park. I have taken families and couples here before, and for good reason. So many great spots to shoot and the light is amazing at sunset. Perfect weather, a little warm in the conservatory, but otherwise, a great day. I met the girls at The LaSalle in downtown South Bend where they got dressed and we shot a few photos. After that, I headed on over to the Potawatomi Conservatory to meet the guys and shoot some photos of them before the ceremony. The ceremony was a quick one! Get out of that heat! After we got a few group and family photos out of the way, we got to talk a walk around the zoo and shoot some fun portraits, and feed some goats. I set the brides bouquet down near the goats, and sure enough, one of them tried to eat it. I was able to snag it away to avoid disaster! The ceremony was on the Alligator bridge near the prairie dogs and lemures. So there were a few more witnesses to the nuptials other than the friends and family of the couple. After the ceremony the whole group took a quick train ride around the zoo. Not a bad way to end the day. Here are a few photos, enjoy!

We had a perfect weather day to take a little stroll down Grand River Ave just outside a killer AirBnB and then hit the top of a parking garage over looking the city skyline. One of my favorite shots of the day happened here. I told the Maid of Honor to open the bottle of Champagne towards me so I could shoot the cork coming out. Little did I know, she was lined up right at me! I was certainly in the splash zone but it made for a great photo and a great reaction from her as I kept shooting through the foamy spray.  We then headed to The First Methodist Church in Mishawaka. A beautiful old church in the heart of Downtown Mishawaka. After the ceremony, we traveled west to downtown South Bend. Once the party arrived, we went for a little walk to get some photos with the entire bridal party. After a couple locations with them, I had the best man and the maid of honor come with me and the bride and groom for some portraits of just the two of them. The comedy duo of the best man and MOH provided some great laughs and expressions from the newlywed couple. The reception soon followed at The Woodward. This was a great venue to shoot in. Not too big, not too small. Great intimate feeling for all of the guests. The dance floor was full from the beginning of open dancing til the end of the night when I left! The downtown area never disappoints with all its various textures and pockets of light. These guys killed it with posing and style options. When I told them I wanted to capture them and that they should just interact with each other, they went for it and were so natural! That made for some great moments. So here are a few! Enjoy!

I shot 4 wedding as the primary photographer and 10 as a second shooter with Westley Leon Studios this year. I did some new projects with my sister and her new business Good Neighbor this fall with a few fashion shoots. I really enjoyed shooting this style of photography. Working with great models and beautiful clothes in Detroit, what could be better. I shot a few headshot gigs and my normal family shoots this fall and winter and a couple senior guys. From there, they took a party bus down to Nappannee to an amazing venue called Coppes Commons. This place had so much to offer when it came to great photo locations. The elegant rustic industrial feel was a photographers dream. The natural light coming to the venue provided many great opportunities for some beautiful photos. With the ceremony and reception activities being in the same venue, we were able to quickly do all of our photos with the family and the bridal party all in about an hour while guest enjoyed appetizers and drinks from the espresso bar. LB floristry provided all of the flower arrangements for the day and did an amazing job! Wow they were beautiful! 27 entertainment brought the house down with some great music and energy for the reception and dance party. These guy are really good at their job. So here is a bit of the day as I saw it. Congrats to Taylor and Colin.

Before their session we got a few family shots in too. This was my first shoot at St. Patrick's County Park in South Bend, and boy, it did not disappoint. There were so many cool spots to shoot. FYI there is no entrance fee after 5pm but they close at 7. Thats golden hour for photogs! So thanks St. Joseph County parks dept. for having that in place! This is also where the wedding will be in September of 2019. I am certainly looking for to this one next year. Here are a few shots from the evening. Enjoy!

After waiting about 10 minutes past the scheduled start time, I made a phone call and found out that it was at Monroe High and not Jefferson! So i packed my gear back up and hoofed it about 20 minutes across town. All was good though since the light was just getting good at 6pm and it ended up being perfect at the end of the shoot. Most of these were shot with one light but I brought out two more flashes for the hero and action shots. Enjoy!

So much energy and love for each other, it was easy for me to give simple direction and then just do my thing and capture their chemistry. 

We started at a really nice Bed and Breakfast in Wyandotte, MI.  Amazing shots were not hard to make here. From here to the guys getting ready location in Rockwood, then to the church down the street. After a beautiful ceremony we went to Lake Erie Metro Park for some bridal party photos. We ended up at the reception location at Dearborn Hills Golf Club. 

Enjoy this preview. It was hard to get the almost 3000 photos, that my second shooter, Ryan, and I took, down to what you see here.
